Justice Education Society
The Society's website offers information on a number of unique and comprehensive justice-related educational services and materials. Many of the resources are available in different languages.

Immigrant Legal
This website provides free legal information and education for newcomers to Canada and the people working with them. Includes a service directory, fact sheets, forms, FAQs, and instructional videos on such areas of law as employment standards, resident tenancy, family law and domestic violence. The resources are available in Arabic, Chinese, Farsi (Persian), French, Korean, Punjabi, Spanish, Vietnamese and other languages.

Multilingual Legal Publications
The Latin American Community Council and MOSAIC, in partnership, have implemented this online multilingual legal resource to provide comprehensive and critical legal information in Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English, French, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Spanish and Vietnamese to Canadian newcomers and community workers.

ClickLaw
Clicklaw is a website that features legal information and education from more than 24 public legal education contributors. The resources available through Clicklaw were designed to be used by the public and those helping the public access legal information.

The Justice Education Society publishes an online dictionary with over 400 legal terms defined in plain, simple language. English only.

Family Matters

Family Justice Centres
Family justice centres operate across the province. These centres are staffed by family justice counsellors who can assist you with issues related to separation or divorce. They provide services free of charge to parents and other family members.  Family justice counsellors provide information. If you need legal advice, they can refer you to legal advice services.

Ministry of Children & Family Development
Offers a wide range of programs and services to children, youth, parents, families, people with special needs, and those fighting addictions. Call: 604-501-3139.

Family Maintenance Enforcement Branch
Monitoring and enforcement agency for maintenance orders and agreements (for either child support or spousal support). Call: 604-678-5670.

BC Housing: Women's Transition Housing and Supports Programs
Transition Houses provide emotional support and crisis intervention; safe, temporary shelter with 24/7 staffing; help in accessing housing, child care, schooling, parenting support and financial, medical and legal assistance. Safe Homes are located in small, remote areas and provide shorter-stay support and crisis intervention.

Legal Help and Victims Services 

Legal Services Society - Legal Aid
You may be able to get free legal help (legal aid) if your legal problem is covered by legal aid rules,your income and the value of your property are below a certain limit, and you have no other way of getting legal help. Call: 604-408-2172.

Access Pro Bono Society of BC 
Volunteer lawyers provide free legal assistance in criminal, family, immigration and civil matters for those who cannot afford legal services. Lawyers do not represent clients in court but do give legal advice and help clients prepare for court appearances. Call: 604-878-7400.

Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch - Lawyer Referral Service 
This service will help you find a lawyer who will meet with you for 30 minutes for $25. Call: 604-687-3221.


The Salvation Army's Pro Bono Lawyer Consultant Program 
This program helps people who cannot afford a lawyer and who cannot get legal aid. Lawyers will provide legal assistance, help prepare legal documents, and prepare you for court in the areas of criminal, family, immigration, labour, welfare law, and in some areas of civil law, but the lawyer will not appear in court with you. Call: 604-872-7681.

UBC Law Student’s Legal Advice Program
This program is only for people with low income. It does not cover cases of family law, personal injury, Supreme Court, or for claims over $10,000. There are many clinics in the lower mainland. Call: 604-822-5791.

Victim Service Workers
Victim service workers can provide information and referrals to all victims of crime and crisis support to victims. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it is confidential and anonymous, and offered in many languages.  Call: 1-800-563-0808.
