What is Family Law?
Family law affects many British Columbians every year. It guides decisions about the care of children and how property and debt are divided after a relationship ends. It also provides ways to resolve family disputes and get protection from family violence. On March 18, 2013, the Family Law Act came into effect. It replaced the Family Relations Act.
