What is Small Claims Court?

Small claims court is a division of the Provincial Court of BC.  It is often called the “do-it-yourself court” because it is designed for people to go to court without lawyers. Disputes between $5,001 and $35,000 are heard in this court. It is less formal and has easier procedures than the Supreme Court of BC. It is also less expensive to take a case to Small Claims Court.
